The Dravidians are a people, most living in sou...thern India and Sri Lanka. The sub-groups are South-Dravidians, Central-Dravidians and North-Dravidians.
The word "Dravidians" also means "Tamilic peoples" in Sanskrit.
The Dravidians speak a rich and very old language. There are 27 different Dravidian languages. The four major Dravidian languages are Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The Dravidian culture was very developed. The color of the Dravidian nation is black and red. The most important animal in Dravidian culture is the bull. Bull embodied masculinity and strength. Bull is also the mount of Lord Shiva. The Dravidians are very religious and built great temples. Most of the Dravidian Hindus are followers of Shaivam. The warrior culture was an important part of the Dravidian culture. The Dravidian martial arts are one of the oldest in the world and foundations for some Asian martial arts. The Dravidian warriors were described as fierce and brave in the history.

Tamil and Sanskrit are the religious language of Hinduism. The researchers believed that Tamil is the oldest Dravidian language and mother of all Dravidian languages. Through the mix of Tamil and Sanskrit have a lot of new languages emerged. Tamil has survived and Sanskrit is extinct. Because of the new languages, have new dynasties and nations formed.

Ancient Tamil scriptures tell of a continent names Kumari Kandam. In this continent should Dravidians and other peoples like the Nagas and the ancestors of people the eastern India, Sri Lanka, Indochina or Indonesia have lived. In the middle of the land was a mighty Dravidian kingdom. The emblem of this kingdom was bull. The Dravidians led successful campaigns against the Nagas and other peoples and had the predominance in Kumari Kandam. The Dravidian population was developed differently. There were highly cultured Dravidian kingdoms or cities and aboriginal tribes. Here in Kumari Kandam should worship the Lord Shiva originated. Kumari Kandam was very wooded and Lord Shiva would have meditated in the sacred forests. Later was this continent submerged. It was mentioned that the land go down, because a fateful tidal wave.
